Gulf Coast Vacation 2013

Fort Morgan, AL
(Gulf Shores)

We vacationed with some great friends.
We had some great food.
And we had a great time.

Here is our vacation:
Sept 7 -14, 2013

Can a 2 door Civic hold a family of 6's vacation things.  Oh yes it can! (With a little help of our friend's car)

The Beach House - Serendipity
Our room
The kids' room

The family bathroom, yes, I took a picture of a bathroom. ;)

The Eat-In part of the eat-in-kitchen

The open living room with a view of the beach

The open kitchen
We just arrived and unpacked - The kids were very ready to get to the beach.

The water was a bit murky, but we didn't deal with jellyfish that day.

burying feet

half of a child

Jumping into the waves
Sunrise walk with my sweet little man

We were told that this was a Civil War boat that had burned and sunk at sea.  One of the recent hurricanes washed it up onto the shore.

Love this cutie

The innertubes were a big hit

He got a hold of a crab

Sunset
Next day was a sand castle building day

My eldest decorated it

with all the dead crab shells he could find

Our friend Stuart caught the first live crab

I just love this pic.

And the second crab was caught.  Which gave the men an idea.  Go crab hunting for some good eats.
Sand crab that we saw on one of our sunrise walks

6ish in the morning... Pre-coffee (and shower) ha!

Sunrise that morning

The men & boys went hunting for crabs

and into the boiling pot they went

Our junior hunters

He caught a dead one. :)

Ok, now I know where "Independence Day" got their idea for the aliens in their movie.
Pretty flower blooming in the sand

My beautiful girl at Lamberts

Another sunset
Matt braving the jellyfish and taking his baby girl out for some fun

He decided to stick close to shore

Taking Gv out for some wave riding

The Blue Angels performed for us almost every day.  It was... Awesome!  The jet in the back did a fly-by for us later. He was so close, we could read the words on the underside of the jet.  And my kids also got a lesson in "breaking the sound barrier".

Gt showing us how brave he was by jumping into the waves.

One of the things he wanted to do was bury himself in the sand

He found a part of a jelly... Did I mention we got stung daily???  We did.  Vinegar mixed with baking soda works wonders on those stings.

My two sillies hamming it up for the camera

Sunset walk with my buddies
Helping his little bro to the waves

Sharing an innertube

He finally got buried

Taking a ride with her daddy.  Heart attack moment for mommy.

Ready to ride to Gulf Shores

Visiting the tourist traps in Gulf Shores

Trying to fit all four in this cutout so I didn't have to take separate pics.  Yeah, that didn't work. :)

Dippin' Dots!!!!  Yummy!

Watching the guy at Papa Johns toss the dough through the Dippin' Dots window.

The night before we left, we went sand crab hunting.  They wore their glow bracelets so we could keep track of them.

Each one of them caught a live sand crab.  We only got a picture of 3 of them though.  Gt's jumped out of his net.

I finally got to drink my coffee out on the front deck the last morning.

Group shot

On the way home we found this fun place to stop.
