Unexpected Vacation - Pensacola Beach

What was once thought to be a week of Matt working out of town in Mississippi, changed last Sunday afternoon.  Matt's boss called and changed his destination to Florida. So, how crazy would it be for the family not to tag along! :)  Matt had to leave early Monday morning.  That left me to find a rental (our van is not travel worthy), get packed, clean up the house, and start our trip to the beautiful white sandy beaches of Pensacola, Florida.
In the rental, all ready to go!  Pensacola, Here we come!!

The view of the hotel pool & sound from our room

Matt & the kiddos under the pier our first full day there.

"Hey, we can touch the tops!"
(Thank goodness for Nemo!!)

Hanging out at the hotel.

Sting Rays that we saw about ten feet from us.

Soaking up the rays.

Tweets at the beach

Posing & dodging jellyfish

Loving the waves!

The goal of the week seemed to be 'who could dig the biggest hole'.

She kept on trying to build a sandcastle.
For some reason it wouldn't stay up...

We saw quite a few dolphins, stingrays and a whale at this beach.
The stingrays were close, the dolphins & whale...not so much.

I spotted this from our balcony before we went
out to eat on Wednesday.  I asked the hotel desk
if there were any tornado watches up.  She told
me, "If you didn't see debris, It wasn't a tornado."
Um, good thing she didn't go to meteorology school.

 This restaurant came highly recommended.

 Waiting for our food.
 View from our seats

Still waiting.  A little hungrier.  Well worth
the wait though.  Great food!

 A sand lizard was found

Aptly named, "Lizzardy"

Happy to be hanging out with daddy

Picnic at the hotel
He found another lizard.  It seemed to be his gift.

 Close up of "Lizzardy II"

 Sunset from our hotel room

 Sunset on the beach

Another view of the sun setting on Pensacola Beach

The surf was high.  No swimming that evening.  I'm sure
the sharks were bummed about that.

Some very expressive kids at the beach.

Working on digging a deep hole

Almost to China!

Stuffing her brother down the hole

Crazy maniacle laughing took place here.

Posing at Flounders where 'Fly By Radio' plays.
(Our neighbor's band)

 Acting like Rock Stars

It was quiet till we got there.

Fake or real, that girl LOVES pizza

Can't tell from the pic, but they are on top of a building
that looks over the sound.

One last look at Pensacola Beach before we had to go. :`/

An attempt to take a self portrait of the whole fam.
We got most of everybody. haha! Poor Tweets.

Some footage of the stingrays that were a few feet from us.
