Navarre Beach, FL

Pics from our recent vacay to Navarre Beach and Pensacola, Florida

The beach house and neighborhood
Friends from our church let us rent their house which is nestled in a cul-de-sac neighborhood between the bay and the Gulf.

The view of the neighborhood from the dock located on the bay side.  The house we rented was located behind/between the blue house and the small beige house.

The neighborhood

I just really liked the colors of these houses with the palm trees

The neighborhood pool

The Bay
We spent a lot of time on this side... A lot less fear-of-drowning stress for mommy. :)

Learning how to use the skimmer boards

Working on building something

Lunch on the Bay (literally)

The bridge to Navarre

This pelican made many passes by us throughout the day.

Our last full day on the Bay

Deep in thought

Working on a sand bridge with a rogue passer-byer

Beautiful beach with blinding white sand

The first hole being dug out

Football on the beach

The other side of the hole for the bridge being dug out

Helping his brother

He said the sand looked like a seashell. :)

On the search for a sand dollar.  This chunk is the biggest we could find.

Skim-boarding

Big waves = Big fun

The Naval Aviation Museum

The last astronaut to have stepped on the Moon at the Naval Aviation Library

Planes that have been recovered from Lake Michigan

Blue Angels
As an added bonus and surprise, the Blue Angels were practicing their last public practice for the air show later that week.  And it was free!!

Fat Albert

Fort Pickens
We tried to see this a couple of days before, but it was closed due to flooding (Henceforth our stop at the Naval Aviation Museum instead).  So we finally got in on Thursday.  Cool place.

Amazed at the 'bacon' on the walls.  Supposedly that takes millions of years to form.  This took just under 200 yrs.

At the bay side of the fort with my Bud.

This is what happens when you don't obey your parents while at the fort. ;)

Ship taking off from the bay

I don't know what is going on here. ha!

Fort Pickens Museum
Some of all of this was found in a sea turtle's stomach.  The display tells you how long it takes each material to deteriorate.  It's quite sad really.

Watching a short video on Fort Pickens

Hurricane Ivan left water in the museum reaching up to just below the arrow.

I know the 1950s were a much more modest time, but I think the weight of wearing that thing would be a drowning hazard. ;)

successfully made an arch bridge

We tried really hard to find one of these intact.  Mission failed.

We tried to find this too, fully intact.  Again, Mission failed.

And here we thought sharks were going to be the problem. ;)

Sunset
Scroll down really fast and watch the sun set. hehe

Navarre Beach watertower

Right before we left for home. :(

Bucket head.  He gave Boops many laughs.

We found plenty of salt-water hermit crabs.  The boys were super disappointed that we couldn't bring them home.

The light house at the Naval Base as seen from Fort Pickens

I just love Palm trees.

Fort Deposit, AL where we always stop for fudge on the way home from the beach.

This puzzle was done by all, but he was the one to put in the last puzzle piece.

This puzzle was not easy!

Sun bathing and spending some quiet time out on the deck.

This is what happens when you take Goldfish out to the bay to snack on.

The End.

  1. These pics, especially the ones with my brother in them, are giving me a case of "miss our family" :( When are you guys going to take a vacay to our house? I know it can't compare to the beach, but we have great sledding when it's cold ;) - Love from your sister in the great white north

    1. Haha! Well... we don't know when we're going up there next. The kids were just asking us. We don't think it will be this year though. ~ We do miss seeing our family. We were thinking if we moved to the Gulf, family would be more inclined to come down and see us! lol.
